From Flax to Linen

Are you ready to get messy learn all about turning flax into linen?

We’ll spend the morning learning how flax grows and how to process it for fiber. Talk about locally grown, we’ll be working with flax grown fifty feet from the fiber studio! Students will have the opportunity to work together and prep their own flax fiber for spinning.

We’ll break bread together, then spend the afternoon learning to prepare our flax fiber for spinning, how best to spin it, and how to finish it for use.

9:00AM to 5:00PM

Class Fee: $90 for the full day

  • Lunch provided

  • Students take home:

    • The flax they have processed and/or spun

    • An information packet

    • Some flax seeds to start their own fiber garden

Students should bring:

  • A spinning wheel in working order with at least one bobbin

  • An apron to protect clothing or a change of clothes

  • An understanding of how to spin a single ply
