Foraged Cordage & Basketry

  • The Fool X the World Farm 15288 Evans Road Basehor, KS, 66007 United States (map)

For over 50,000 years, humans have hand-twisted fibers into twine and cordage.  It turns out, you can too!  Spend part of the morning foraging 20 acres of pristine Kansas farm and woodland for twine and basketry materials.  We’ll bring our found materials back to the workshop where fiber artist and expert Liz Bonny will teach us how to turn native plants into cordage and small baskets.

Student bring a good pair of close-toed walking shoes and clothes that can get dirty.

8-9 - Meet & greet - grab a donut and coffee!

9-10:30 - Foraging walk led by grounds manager Steven Condon

10:30-2 - Liz Bonny teaches us about cordage and basketry
