Knitting in the Heartland

Knitting in the Heartland is a knitting conference held in Kansas City biennially.  This is a local conference that focuses on connecting knitters from across the midwest.  Hosted by the Sunflower Knitters Guild, the organizers bring in a mixture of local and internationally recognized teachers focused primarily on knitting with a little bit of crochet and spinning.

This year, Edie Eckman and Franklin Habit headlined the conference.  I was lucky enough to take a class on photographing fiber with Franklin.  I came back with some great tips and I hope I can provide more high quality images to tempt you.

Most exciting, I was invited to teach beginning spinning this year.  We had two sessions, one Saturday and one Sunday.  I am pleased to say that every single one of my students had spun and plied yarn by the end of the class! It was great fun and I hope we have at least a few new spinners in the community!
