From Seed to Shawl: Cotton

There is something satisfying about growing your own fiber. Cotton is full of tricks, especially if you live further north. In this class, we’ll talk about the process of growing cotton from seed, how to process that cotton for spinning, and some tips on how to spin cotton.

Cotton is restricted in some states, so we’ll also talk about reaching out to your local extension office for information.

3 hour class (half day)
20 student max
Experience Level: Intermediate, students should know how to spin a single and ply.
Students Provide: a spinning wheel in working order, preferably with a fast ratio.
Materials Fee Covers – cotton samples

Special Requirements: This class requires electricty, and if possible, a projector.
